About 2 years after getting the Demak me and a friend was thinking about getting proper riding pants so on Thaipusam (9 February 2017) we paid a visit to Guan How Superbike which was location in Juru Autocity (not the one at Ipoh). They have a few options and after trying out a few riding pants which did not fit well, we tried the riding jackets since they were on sale and there are a few which we both liked but since the H-D jackets are still in good condition so I had to give it a pass.
Prior to this visit, I saw a 2nd hand Vulcan S in a shop at Ayer Itam but the mileage was too high and the asking price was not that tempting and they would not allow me to test ride the Vulcan. While looking at the all the bikes, the first bike that caught our eye was the new Kawasaki H2R because it was all decked out in chrome. After looking around we spotted a Vulcan S among the sea of 2nd hand bikes for sale. The boss spotted us looking the bike and came to talk to us more about the Vulcan.
Next thing we knew he asked if we have a B Full license and when I replied yes he said 'Why don't you go for a test ride to see if it is suitable.' and his employees started moving the bikes around to get the Vulcan out. It was like playing a game of traffic block. After getting the bike out of the shop, started it and his employee, Bird, took it one round the block, he handed the bike over and told me to take it as many rounds as my heart desires.
Took it about 3 rounds and the first time I rode it I was not used to the forward leg position and the weight of the bike when it corners. It was also the first time I rode a more powerful bike than the Demak and I was nervous but after that first round, I started enjoying the bike more.
After the test ride we spoke more to Bird about the Vulcan and was informed that the previous owner has a lot of accessories fitted to the bike. We were pleased with the condition of the bike and it comes with the following items:
The mileage is also low and the price is reasonable. Bird was also surprised at the other bike shop which did not allow any form of test ride for 2nd hand bikes. Long story short: went to the nearest bank (with the bike; urged by Bird), paid for the deposit, got the loan approved and bike was delivered the following week (18/2/17).

Vulcan next to the Demak back from a short trip |
All I can say is once you ride this bike and have gotten used to the power and weight, it was a blast. I did drop the bike once when going into a narrow passage meant for smaller cc bikes. When going slow, I accidentally hit the front brakes too hard and the next thing I know the bike went down the side. Lucky is was a drop and no damage to the bike. Lesson learnt: Never use front brake for slow speed riding.
Remember to ride safe, be vigilant and keep the rubber side down
