I had my eyes on this toy a few years ago but did not have a good reason to get it until recently during the MCO period. Long story short my car battery went flat due to not moving and it was parked in a position where it was impossible to get a second car in to jump start it. After placing an order for it on Lazada, the item arrived 3 days later despite the MCO restriction which was impressive.
The package comes in the delivery box (left) and it is neatly packed in the box with air pillows for protection (right)
Packaging:
Front and back of the box
Side of the box. Side note: this is the packaging box of the unit and it already shows how to use the unit and the safety precautions to take
The package box has a tamper seal for extra caution. I am beginning to like this product more and more just by the packaging itself |
Product:
This product comes with a nice sturdy carrying case. Everything that one needs to jump start any vehicle is stored in this little case.
Carrying case |
All the necessary cables are kept in the mesh pocket at the top of the case |
Below the flap is the unit itself. It is stored snugly in the the foam packaging |
All the accessories out from the mesh pocket: 1-Battery Clamps, 2-Wall charger, 3-USB cable, 4-Car charger, 5-Manual. There are so many options given to charge this unit |
Manual on what and how to connect the clamp and the other functions of the unit |
Remove the unit and there is a yellow warning card |
Top of the unit |
Bottom of the unit |
There is a on/off switch located on the side of the unit. The other side of the unit is empty |
One side of the unit is where the flashlight, 2 nos USB charging port and the charging port is located |
There will be a battery percentage of the unit shown on the display when turned on |
The flashlight is bright enough to light the working area in case you need to do some roadside repairs after dark |
On the opposite side is where the clamps goes to to jump start the vehicle battery. It is protected by a rubber cover |
There is no way to accidentally plug in the clamps to the unit incorrectly. It is 'shape oriented' |
There will be a display on the clamps when it is plugged in to the unit correctly | | |
When
the unit is connected to the battery, it will display the voltage of
the battery. 11.5V is a bit low but the battery can still be used by
jump starting but we opted to replace the battery as it was already 4 years old |
Update (2 October 2020):
Finally got the chance to test the Beatit. After the
group ride to Grik a few minor issues was discovered on the Vulcan. The most major issue was the battery and the gear shifter pedal but since this is a post about the jump starter, we will discuss about the battery. I noticed that the Vulcan was having a hard time cold starting recently and after being on the road for some time. I was also starting the bike a few times to try to format the
dash cam which might also be one of the cause of the flat. Before anything, I would need to know the voltage of the battery. Just connect the clamps to the battery and viola!
Battery voltage of only 11.7v
Since the battery only has 11.7v and I need to take the bike to the shop to have it replace and check a few other things, I decided to take this opportunity to jump start the bike. The process is very simple...
Step 1: Connect the clamp to the unit
Step 2: Turn on the unit. Make sure that the unit has enough juice to jump start
Step 3: Start the bike and let the engine run
Step 4: Remove the clamp from the battery. In this case, I remove the clamp from the unit to know the voltage of the battery
It was at this point I found a flaw in the design of the Vulcan. In order to close the side cover to the battery, I would require the ignition key which is currently needed to keep the engine running. Luckily I was at home and had to fish out the spare key. It would be a good idea to carry the spare key along everytime I go for a long ride just in case this ever happens again.
Conclusion:
I would recommend getting it to keep either the glove compartment or in the under seat or bag when one goes riding. Never know when you will need it to either charge your mobile phone on the go or when you or your riding buddies accidentally left their bikes or car lights on and need a quick jump start to get them going.
Remember to ride safe, be vigilant and keep the rubber side down
