This is the third trip down to the Historic city of Taiping. This trip was a promise trip made to Lai Seng, owner of MegaBike because on our previous trip we booked a Shoei helmet and a Proformance rear paddock stand.
On our way over we were both feeling a bit hungry and decided to check out what delicious cafes Taiping has to offer. Found a few and trusted Waze to take us to the destination.
Water tower in Kamunting town |
Small towns along the way to the cafe |
Along the way a herd of cows decided to just cross the road. Luckily there were little to no traffic |
When we reached a familiar area me and my friend laughed our heads off as Waze took us through the scenic route when we could have used the original route and reached earlier. The worse part was all the cafes we wanted to go to was closed so we had to back track to the Taiping Sentral Mall for lunch.
After lunch we headed to MegaBike to collect our items. When we reached Lai Seng informed us that we would have to wait about 45 minutes because there was a walk in customer who needs both tyres replaced and balanced before continuing their trip. We were okay with waiting so we hopped over to the bakery/cooking shop a few doors down but there was nothing interesting and headed back.
Headed back to MegaBike and went to look around the shop. Looked at helmets, accessories, shoes and tried on some gloves. While we were at the jackets section, I told my friend to look for and try out the jackets since she was planning to get a second jacket to swap around. We were looking for specific feature on the jacket, the shop assistant, Wendy, approached us. Informed her that we wanted a jacket which will be able to zip up with her riding pants.
Tried a few sizes and types and ended up with one which fits, doesn't make her look funny and has the feature we were looking for. Asked the price and Lai Seng gave us an additional discount on top of the listed discount price. We compared the price of the jacket (without the discount) to the H-D jacket which she is still currently wearing and the price is cheaper. The Komine comes with all the armor; shoulder, elbow, chest and back; whereas the H-D jacket is just for the jacket and armors are to be sold separately. What is worse is that the armors are always in limited quantity and we got ours from Singapore. Since the price of this jacket was so tempting, we decided to get it.
While we were trying on jackets, Lai Seng was fixing the UClear Amp 200 bluetooth communicator and the breath guard onto the Shoei instead of working on the tyres. It was very nice of him to attend to us first. His reason: he was waiting for our arrival and has promised to help set-up all the necessary items.
Overall this was a fun and an enjoyable trip with more goodies and items crossed off the wishlist.
Remember to ride safe, be vigilant and keep the rubber side down
