Shoei Neotec II Splicer TC-2

On one of the previous trip to MegaBike, we 'reserved' a Shoei helmet which we promised to pick up next weekend. The weekend came and made another trip down to get the helmet. While we were there, Lai Seng was kind enough to help install the Amp Go 200 bluetooth which we bought about a month ago.

There is a liner for the ear cutout in the helmet which needs to be removed when installing any type of speakers.

Box:

Shoei words printed all over the box. The only place which doesn't have the Shoei word is at the bottom of the box. Talk about advertising. Carrying this box around anywhere is a free advertisement to Shoei

 Unboxing:

*Note: This might not be how the items are originally placed in the box. Lai Seng has removed the helmet from the box earlier to help to install the Bluetooth. Photos below are how the items are kept after the installation.
First thing to greet is the Pinlock visor which is supplied with the Neotec II. The Pinlock was not installed as it might cause dauble halos at night. It will be installed if and only if fogging becomes an issue
Opening up the top lid gives access to the helmet and the instruction manual (right side of box). The helmet is held snugly in the box with a triangle support at the bottom right
All the manuals and accessories are neatly packed in the zip lock bag attached to the side.
Almost all the content in the zip lock bag. Only one missing is the breath guard which was installed by Lai Seng

...and safety instruction

The helmet also comes with the silicon seal (left) and a service tool...
...and 2 Shoei stickers
Comes with instructions on how to install the Pinlock pin and additional 2 pins in the bag
Helmet securely fitted in the box
Sleeper bag or dust bag to protect the helmet when not in use
As with the HJC sleeper bag, it has the stitching on the outside to prevent unnecessary scratches
First impression:

The helmet has a nice matte finish to it and when light shines on it the silver area becomes reflective. The paint finish on the helmet are excellent.

Features:
Helmet features shown on the visor sticker

Top vents on the helmet has 3 position. Top left: fully open, top right: semi-open, top: fully closed
Chin vent is either fully closed(left) or fully open (right). Usually the chin and top vents will remain open unless riding in the rain. The red tab below the chin vent is to unlock the chin guard to flip up
Exhaust vent at the back of the helmet. The exhaust vents are large compared to the HJC
There is a sun visor lever on the left side of the helmet. It is smooth and can be stopped at any point. The Bluetooth does not come with the helmet but Lai Seng was kind enough to assist in installing it for us
The internal sun visor lowered
There is a lock for the visor. It can be a bit hard and tricky to unlock it especially when you have a history or trigger finger. Trick: ride with it slightly opened and only fully close it during heavy rain or riding at high speed.

There are a total of about 7 indentations between the fully lock and fully open visor. The first indentation opens just slightly which is enough to prevent fogging and to have enough air flow when on the go
There are 2 positions when the chin guard is opened. The picture on the left is when you flip it up for short period of time but the chin guard will easily fall back down to the close position. The picture on the right better secures the chin bar by putting a bit more force up and it will 'lock' the chin bar. It is sturdier but not recommended to ride with the chin bars raised as this helmet is only homologated as P. Click here to know more about homologation in helmets
A closer view of the red tab below the chin curtain. It has an arrow to indicate that it needs to be pushed down and the open word to inform that it opens the chin bar.

Breath guard which came supplied with the helmet
There are plastic tabs at the bottom of the breath guard which is easily inserted into the areas circled in red.
This helmet comes with the ratchet type fastener which we are more used to than the double D rings

Conclusion:

My first impression was it was so much lighter than my HJC and the weight is noticeable when I first picked it up at Sheng Fatt. The fit and finish is excellent as you would expect from a premium helmet and it comes with all the extra accessories. If you can afford the higher price tag I would recommend you to go for it. If not start off cheaper and slowly upgrade but make sure to get the size which fits your nogging.
Remember to ride safe, be vigilant and keep the rubber side down
